What is a GTM agent?
GTM Agents are AI agents for companies selling to restaurants. They use account context to research operators and buyers, prepare outreach and act on connected CRM or website events. Scoped tools, approval gates and audit trails govern execution so the team can inspect and control consequential sales actions.
- What triggers a GTM agent?
- A live event in a connected system — an opportunity moving to Closed Won, a known prospect returning to pricing, a customer landing on the cancellation page, a lifecycle field changing. The event is the prompt. Nothing has to be scheduled and no one has to remember to start the run.
- How is a GTM agent different from an AI SDR?
- An AI SDR is scoped to outbound prospecting. A GTM agent is defined by its trigger and its reach: the same agent model responds across the lifecycle — sales-to-CS handoff, buying-intent follow-up, retention — and acts inside your existing systems rather than sending mail from a parallel one.
- Do GTM agents change CRM data without a human?
- Only where you allow it. Safe actions keep moving so the run stays fast, and consequential ones — external posts, lifecycle changes, promotional changes — can pause with the exact arguments exposed for approval, editing, or denial. Whichever path a step takes, the tool call, the outcome, and the approver are preserved in the run's audit trail.
Agent, workflow, or assistant?
“Agent” now covers products that were assistants or scripted automations a year ago, which makes the label useless for telling them apart. Two published definitions cut the territory on different axes, which is why they are worth reading together: Anthropic draws an architectural line — who controls which tools get used — while Gartner sorts by the kind of work being handed over. Neither line turns on how smart the model is.
“Workflows are systems where LLMs and tools are orchestrated through predefined code paths. Agents, on the other hand, are systems where LLMs dynamically direct their own processes and tool usage, maintaining control over how they accomplish tasks.”
— Anthropic, “Building effective agents”, December 2024
Gartner cuts the same territory by task instead, adds the third category the architectural split leaves out, and gives the confusion a name. Its June 2025 analysis describes agent washing — “the rebranding of existing products, such as AI assistants, robotic process automation (RPA) and chatbots, without substantial agentic capabilities” — and estimates that only about 130 of the thousands of agentic AI vendors are real. Its recommendation is a sorting rule, not a pitch: “start by using AI agents when decisions are needed, automation for routine workflows and assistants for simple retrieval.” Gartner further predicts that over 40% of agentic AI projects will be canceled by the end of 2027, “due to escalating costs, unclear business value or inadequate risk controls.” Those are a published prediction and a published estimate, not measured outcomes — but they name the three things a buyer should make a vendor answer.
Where Lumitra sits, and where it differs
A Lumitra GTM agent sits on the agent side of that split. It is not a fixed script: it chooses which CRM, enrichment, and website intelligence tools to call, and in what order, against the account context loaded for the event that woke it. What keeps that from being open-ended autonomy is that the run is bounded before it starts. Each agent has a declared tool surface — only the tools it is allowed to call, not everything the platform can do — plus a tool-step budget and a wall-clock deadline, both set per agent rather than left open. Anthropic describes the same practice: it is “common to include stopping conditions (such as a maximum number of iterations) to maintain control.” High-impact actions stop for a person, and the whole run stays readable afterwards.
One difference is worth naming rather than blurring. Anthropic describes agents that “begin their work with either a command from, or interactive discussion with, the human user.” Lumitra’s agents begin from a revenue event — a CRM field changing, a product signal, a website session — instead of a prompt. The autonomy question is the same one; the trigger is not. That is the whole design: nobody has to remember to ask.
The three bounds above are the parts worth inspecting before you trust any agent with your pipeline — what a GTM agent remembers between runs, which actions pause for human approval, and the audit trail a finished agent run leaves behind.
Citing these definitions is not a claim of endorsement: neither Anthropic nor Gartner evaluates, certifies, or ranks Lumitra.
Inside GTM Agents
How the parts of GTM Agents actually work — each capability explained with the real product behavior behind it.
Human Approval
Agents pause for explicit approval before sensitive actions, and only carry the tools each workflow actually needs.
Audit Trails
Every session keeps its tool calls, approvals, outputs, and completion report inspectable after the run — versioned down to the agent config.
Agent Memory
Durable, tenant-scoped memory and persisted tool results let each run build on prior work instead of starting over.
AI sales agents for restaurant vendors
Find the restaurant buyer. Let agents do the research.
For companies selling into restaurants, an AI SDR needs more than a venue list. It needs the operator behind the brand, what the business does, which product may fit and which person has a credible role in the purchase.

Build a market of relevant restaurant operators and concepts while accounting for location ownership and existing relationships.
