Why Is St. Louis-Style Pizza Cut Into Squares? Sep 19, 2026
Dogtown Pizza · Pizza Love · St. Louis
If you’ve ever ordered pizza outside of St. Louis, you may have noticed something strange. Where are the triangles? Here in St. Louis, we have a different way of doing things. Our pizza comes with a cracker-thin crust, distinctive cheese, plenty of toppings – and, perhaps most importantly – squares instead of traditional triangle slices. But why is St. Louis pizza cut in squares? Is it tradition? Convenience? A secret St. Louis pizza law? We can’t confirm the last one, but there’s a… (truncated)

The “I’m Bored” Bucket List for Summer in STL Jun 14, 2026
Dogtown Pizza · Pizza Love · St. Louis
It starts out innocently enough. The school year wraps up, the kids throw their backpacks into the closet, and everyone celebrates the sweet freedom of summer. But fast forward a couple of weeks into July, and those celebratory cheers quickly turn into a much different sound. You know exactly what we’re talking about—the dreaded, whining, repetitive sigh: “I’m bored. There’s nothing to do.” As parents, it’s easy to feel the pressure to become full-time cruise directors, mapping out… (truncated)

Cool Kids, Calm Parents: Your Guide to a Low-Maintenance Water Day May 11, 2026
Dogtown Pizza · Pizza Love · St. Louis
Ah, summer. The season of endless sunshine, neighborhood bike rides, and the inevitable, repetitive chorus of: “Mom, Dad, I’m bored. And it’s SO HOT.” When the heat index starts climbing, there is only one logical solution to keep the peace and lower the household temperature: water. But hold on a second. And when you start with a solid foundation, like Dogtown Pizza’s cracker-thin crust, ooey-gooey cheese blend,… (truncated)

Comment on Reasons Why Your Family Should Eat Meals Together More Often by Michaela Hemsley Aug 14, 2019
Michaela Hemsley
I like that you said that sitting down for a meal as a family doesn’t require perfection. My family and I are trying to eat together more, but we all always seem to be so busy and can't schedule the time together. I think it would be smart to block out our schedule and make time or make sure to have something like a pizza night every night since we all love pizza and would probably make time to do that just so we could spend more time together.

Comment on Thin-Crust Pizza vs. Thick-Crust Pizza: The Ultimate Showdown! by Kit Hannigan Dec 20, 2018

I like what you said about how thicker crusts make it possible for more toppings on your pie. Me and my sons love cheese. I think we should order more thick crust pizzas so we can specifically ask for more pizza toppings on our pie.

I thought it was interesting that you mentioned your preference depending on where you live. It never occurred to me that this could be something influenced by region, but more by family. It's something that I would really like to look into more. Thank you for sharing your thoughts!

One of the things that I love about pizza is that you can pretty much make it however you want it. With most pizza places, they would be able to make it to your needs. Now if I was making a pizza, I would probably go with a thin crust pizza as it's a bit easier to make.

I totally agree when you said that the type of crust that is better depends on the preference of the person and the type of pizza as well. I just got curious about this because we are going to eat out this weekend. It will be for the celebration of my husband's promotion at work which he worked hard for three years. Thanks for the information!

I like that you talked about how most people like thick crust pizza in the middle states while those that are on the edges are for the thin crust. This just shows how people are different with their choices. I guess I have to provide these two types of pizza for my birthday celebration to cater to those who like thin and thin. We just thought that it would be best to serve pizza because who doesn't like this type of food.

Love your pizzas. Always get the deluxe and never have to put extra cheese, etc on them. Just bought your lasagna and other casserole to try. I’m sure they’re great.
